Neodymium magnet strips: Higher magnetic force in a smaller volume. Pull force: 10-25 kg per 100mm length (for a 20mm wide strip with N42 neodymium). Suitable for heavy wrenches (up to 3-5kg) and vertical mounting. Must be coated (Ni-Cu-Ni or rubber) to prevent corrosion. Temperature range: -40°C to 80°C (N42), up to 150°C with SH grade. For automotive workstations, neodymium strips are preferred because they can hold a full set of heavy combination wrenches vertically without slipping. Ferrite strips are only suitable for screwdrivers or light hand tools.

Important: The pull force is measured with a steel plate in direct contact with the magnet. When a tool is placed on the strip, the actual force depends on the tool's surface area and thickness. A wrench with a narrow shaft (10mm wide) may slip more easily than one with a wide shaft (25mm wide). We recommend using a strip with 2x the calculated force to account for varying tool shapes.

Installation Options: Wall-Mounted vs. Toolbox Integration

 

 

Wall-mounted: Use screws through pre-drilled holes in the strip. For concrete or brick walls, use masonry anchors. For metal walls (e.g., tool carts), use self-tapping screws. Ensure the strip is level and at a comfortable reach height (1.2-1.5m from floor). For vertical mounting on a wall, the magnetic field holds tools even at 90° (perpendicular to gravity) if the strip's pull force exceeds the tool weight by 1.5x.

Toolbox integration: Many automotive toolboxes have steel top or side panels. Simply attach a magnetic strip to the interior or exterior of the toolbox using the magnetic force itself (self-mounting). For heavier strips, use screws or adhesive (3M VHB tape). This approach saves wall space and keeps tools close to the work area.

A: Yes, but keep them at least 100mm away from hard drives, monitors, and sensitive electronics. The magnetic field from a neodymium strip can affect CRT monitors (rare now) or cause compass deflection. For near-electronics use, choose ferrite strips (weaker but safe).

Q: How do I clean a magnetic tool strip that has accumulated metal dust/shavings?
A: Wipe the strip with a cloth. For stubborn shavings, wrap the strip in a plastic bag, then slide a magnet across the outside of the bag-the shavings will follow the magnet and stay contained in the bag. Do not use compressed air (it can embed debris into the strip). For strips with rubber coating, use mild soap and water.

Q: What temperature range can the magnetic strips withstand in a paint oven?
