The N52 grade disc magnet from HIMAGNET is built for engineers and procurement teams who need reliable magnetic performance in a compact, flat form factor. Whether you're designing a sensor module, assembling motor components, or building a custom fixture, the disc shape offers predictable axial field orientation and easy integration into most mechanical configurations.
Made from sintered NdFeB material, N52 sits at the top of the standard commercial grade range. In practical terms, that means more flux in less space - useful when your design has tight dimensional constraints but still requires strong holding or sensing force.

Material and Build
Each disc is machined from sintered Nd–Fe–B (neodymium iron boron) stock and finished with a Ni–Cu–Ni (nickel-copper-nickel) triple-layer coating as standard. The triple-layer plating gives the surface a clean metallic finish and provides adequate corrosion resistance for most indoor industrial environments. For harsher conditions - high humidity, salt spray, or chemical exposure - we can apply black epoxy, zinc, or gold coating instead.
Dimensional tolerance is held to ±0.05 mm across the batch. This matters most in automated assembly where inconsistent part sizes cause fit issues or line stoppages. The magnetization runs axially through the disc thickness, which produces a well-defined north-south pole arrangement on the flat faces - the geometry that most sensor and motor designs are built around.
Operating temperature for N52 is typically up to 80°C under continuous load. If your application runs hotter, we offer SH and EH high-temperature variants that maintain stable magnetic output at higher sustained temperatures.

Where These Are Used
N52 disc magnets appear across a wide range of industrial and engineering applications. In sensor assemblies, the flat face makes contact or proximity detection straightforward. In motor stators and rotor builds, the disc geometry fits neatly into laminated stack designs. We've also supplied these to customers building magnetic clutches, tool holding fixtures, medical imaging components, and consumer electronics assemblies.
The disc form is also popular for research and prototyping work, where engineers need a well-characterised magnetic source with predictable field geometry before committing to a custom shape.
Customization
HIMAGNET supplies disc magnets across a wide size range, and most parameters can be specified to your requirement. This includes diameter and thickness, NdFeB grade (N35 through N52, plus SH and EH series), surface coating, and magnetization direction. We can also carry out secondary operations - cutting, drilling, and edge chamfering - on request.

For OEM projects, send us your drawing or CAD file. We'll review the geometry, confirm tolerances, and suggest coating and grade combinations that fit your operating environment. There is no fixed minimum order quantity - we accommodate both sample runs and production volumes.
Handling Notes
NdFeB magnets are brittle. Avoid dropping or allowing strong magnets to snap together at speed - the impact can chip or crack the material even when the coating looks intact. During installation, plan for mechanical support or adhesive bonding rather than relying solely on press fit, particularly in softer housing materials where the magnet edge can dig in and fracture over time.
The standard Ni–Cu–Ni coating handles mild humidity well, but it is not designed for prolonged outdoor exposure or immersion. If your assembly will see those conditions regularly, specify epoxy or zinc coating when you place the order.

Common Questions
Can the magnetization direction be changed?
Yes. Axial magnetization (through the disc thickness) is the standard configuration, but we can produce diametrically magnetized discs or custom multipole patterns depending on your application. Specify the required direction when requesting a quote.
What coating should I select for outdoor use?
For outdoor or humid environments, black epoxy or zinc coating performs better than the standard nickel finish. Epoxy provides a sealed barrier against moisture; zinc offers good general corrosion resistance at lower cost. We can advise based on your specific exposure conditions.
Are samples available before a bulk order?
Yes. Sample quantities are available. Contact us with your size and grade requirements and we will confirm lead time and any applicable sample charges. Sample cost is typically offset against the subsequent production order.
