Product Introduction

When a customer asks how strong a magnet needs to be, the honest answer is usually "it depends on the number." HIMAGNET's D60 pot magnet gives a straightforward one: up to 160kg of pull force from a single 60mm diameter unit. That's enough to hold a warehouse gate shut, secure a temporary fixture, or lift a steel plate during assembly - without welding, without brackets, just a screw thread and a flat steel surface.

The magnet sits inside a steel cup housing, which does two things: it concentrates the magnetic field for stronger holding power than a bare disc of the same size, and it protects the neodymium core from impact and corrosion. A threaded socket is molded into the housing, so mounting is usually a matter of driving in a bolt rather than fabricating a bracket.

D60 pot magnet dimensions and specification

Grade and Pull Force

We offer this pot magnet in four grades - N35, N38, N42, and N52 - so you can match holding force to budget rather than over-specifying. The D60 housing tops out at 160kg with N52, the highest commercially available grade. If your application doesn't need maximum force, a lower grade brings the cost down without changing the mounting or housing dimensions.

Pull force ratings assume direct contact with a clean, flat steel surface. Painted, textured, or uneven surfaces reduce actual holding force - for critical load-bearing applications, we recommend testing under your actual mounting conditions rather than relying on the rated figure alone.

Coating and Surface Protection

Standard housing finish is zinc plating, which handles typical indoor industrial environments without issue. For applications where the magnet contacts finished or delicate surfaces - glass cabinets, painted panels, consumer-facing fixtures - we offer a rubber-coated version. The rubber layer prevents scratching on contact and adds a thin cushioning layer, at a small cost to maximum pull force.

Where This Gets Used

Pot magnets in this size range show up most often in industrial fixturing - holding jigs in place during machining, securing cable runs, or acting as quick-release mounts for tooling that needs to come off cleanly later. We've also supplied these for door catches on warehouse and cabinet doors, temporary signage mounting, and as a lifting aid for moving steel components short distances on a factory floor.

Because installation doesn't require welding, these are also popular for retrofit situations - adding a magnetic mount to existing equipment without modifying the original structure.

Sizing and Customization

D60 is our most requested size, but we produce pot magnets from D22 up to D88mm, and can work from your drawing for non-standard dimensions. Welding processing is available if your application calls for a permanently fixed mount rather than the screw socket. Send us your required pull force and mounting surface, and we'll recommend the grade and diameter combination that fits.

There is no fixed minimum order quantity. We accommodate both single-unit sample orders and production-volume runs.

Handling Notes

At 160kg rated pull force, this magnet can snap onto a steel surface with considerable speed and force from a distance of several centimeters. Keep fingers clear of the contact face during installation, and lower the magnet onto the mounting surface at an angle rather than straight-on where possible - this reduces the risk of pinch injury and impact damage to the housing.

Avoid mounting near sensitive electronics, magnetic storage media, or pacemakers. The field strength at this size is sufficient to affect nearby devices from a noticeable distance.

Common Questions

Is a rubber-coated version available?
Yes. Rubber-coated pot magnets are available for applications where surface protection matters - non-slip and anti-scratch, suitable for mounting on finished or delicate surfaces. Pull force is slightly reduced compared to the uncoated version due to the added layer thickness.

What sizes are available besides D60?
We produce pot magnets from D22mm up to D88mm as standard, and can manufacture custom sizes based on your drawing or specification. Contact us with your target pull force and we can recommend the right diameter and grade.

Can these be welded instead of using the screw socket?
Yes, welding processing is available for applications that need a permanent, non-removable mount. Specify this requirement when requesting a quote, as it may affect housing design and lead time.

To request a quote, contact HIMAGNET with your required pull force, mounting surface, and quantity - we respond within one business day.
